Quando o célebre ator e cantor Bourvil compôs em 1945 Les Crayons, uma das suas mais conhecidas canções, a popularidade do postal estava em declínio. Na canção, uma órfã tenta sem sucesso vender postais e lápis, que para os passantes não são mais do que "coisas banais".

When the famous singer Bourvil wrote in 1945 Les Crayons, one of his most well known songs, the popularity of postcards has started to decline. In the song, an orphan tries unsucessfully to sell postcards and pencils, which are regarded as "trivial things" by the crowd.
