O tecido veste a pele - esconde-a, tanto como a insinua.

A pele também é um tecido, que estando em nós à superfície abre todavia o humano em profundidade.

O texto é uma pele - podendo dissimulá-la, também a revela. Diz Roland Barthes que as palavras são uma pele: esfrego a minha linguagem contra um outro (Roland Barthes, 1987 [1977], Fragmentos de um discurso amoroso, Lisboa, Edições 70, p. 98).

O tecido, o texto e a pele são matéria táctil.

O tecido tem duas faces - o direito e o avesso. É um entrançado de fios, que perfaz um padrão, e tem nervuras, rugosidades, irregularidades, maior ou menor maciez.

Também o postal ilustrado tem duas faces – a frente e o verso. E é um objecto táctil, com uma textura e uma memória, entre o mesmo e o outro, o longínquo e o próximo. Experimentamo-lo, por exemplo, nas viagens. Por ele circulam permutas e a distância suprime o seu afastamento pela ligação.

Fabric covers the skin - it hides it just as much as it reveals it.

Skin is also a fabric; be as it may at the surface, it is, however, the deepest human side because in it we risk life.

Text is a skin – it can be concealed, or revealed. Roland Barthes says that words are a skin: I rub my language against someone else (Roland Barthes, 1987 [1977] Fragmentos de um discurso amoroso, Lisboa, Editions 70, p. 98).

Fabric, text and skin are tactile materials.

Fabric has two sides - the inside and reverse. It is an intertwining of yarn, giving it a pattern, and ribbing, roughness, irregularities, and more or less softness.

A postcard also has two sides - front and back. And it is a tactile object, with a texture and a memory, which links us to someone else, distant and near. We experience this in travels, for instance. Through postcards exchanges take place in which distance is removed via this link.

This post focuses on two postcards: one surprises us with an embroidery on paper, and the other a spongy pink material.
